This is me in 1997 aged 26! That makes me really old now! As you can see photography has been a common thread in my life for a long time. This photo was taken in the early morning way up a tributary of the Amazon River in Peru. I was there on a biodiversity project and we came to this particular spot to see the mighty Scarlet Macaw at a clay lick where they also like to nest by making holes and tunnels into the almost horizontal clay wall. It was an incredible sight. This photo was taken by a professional photographer who was part of a documentary team following our project. It came to me in the post about a year after I had returned from Peru. Despite the really bad DIY haircut I reckon I look OK for someone who hasn't had a proper wash in about 2 months!
